Surely everyone has heard about some columns in magazines where people write asking for help and there are times when we all relate to some situations. My students in B2 and B3 Class decided to write to a columnist seeking advice for some problems they face. Now it is up to everyone one of us Eurognosi Bloggers to reply back to them with solutions to their problems. This is the message my C Class students want to send out! For this reason they decided to share with everyone some useful exercise tips for health, fitness and stamina! Judging by their illustrations, which are excellent and funny, and of course their descriptions, I would guess that these wonderful children don’t waste a minute sitting around!!!! What are we all waiting for? Let’s grab an exercise mat and get to it!  You can make a promise to yourself today by signing the Charter below! Some teachers find it difficult to deal with reading texts found in their coursebooks. Mostly, they will just go with the rest of the exercise accompanying the texts. There are actually some activities which can make a reading activity more fun or more meaningful to students. They are:

Αγαπητοί γονείς και σπουδαστές, Φθάνοντας στο τέλος της σχολικής χρονιάς η σχολή μας διοργανώνει ημερήσια εκδρομή την Κυριακή 10 Απριλίου για όλους τους σπουδαστές και φίλους. Προορισμός μας θα είναι το Δάσος του Ρούβα.   Το δάσος του Ρούβα βρίσκεται στο Νοτιοανατολικό τμήμα της οροσειράς του Ψηλορείτη και αποτελεί το σημαντικότερο από τα ελάχιστα φυσικά δασικά οικοσυστήματα που έχουν απομείνει στο Νομό Ηρακλείου. Η εκδρομή θα περιλαμβάνει λίγη πεζοπορία καθώς το λεωφορείο δεν φτάνει μέχρι το δάσος.   Η διαδρομή είναι εύκολη και συνιστώνται άνετα παπούτσια. Εκεί θα έχουμε διοργανώσει με την βοήθεια των προσκόπων διάφορα παιχνίδια και αθλητικές δραστηριότητες για τα παιδιά καθώς και barbeque για όλους. Παρακαλούνται τα παιδιά κάτω των 12 ετών να συνοδεύονται από κάποιο ενήλικα.   Επίσης συνιστάτε να κρατάτε έξτρα φαγητό γιατί θα είμαστε εκεί όλη μέρα και δεν έχει αναψυκτήριο. Το Σάββατο 26 Μαρτίου πραγματοποιήθηκε με επιτυχία άλλη μία "Ώρα της Γης". Η πέμπτη επέτειος για την "Ώρα της Γης" έλαβε μέρος από τις 8:30 έως τις 9:30 το βράδυ του Σαββάτου σε όλο τον κόσμο.  Από την Αθήνα μέχρι το Παρίσι τα φώτα έσβησαν. Τα πρώτα φώτα χαμήλωσαν στα νησιά Fiji και τη Νέα Ζηλανδία, μέχρι 24 ώρες μετά όπου εσβησαν τα τελευταία φώτα στη Σαμόα, ολοκληρώνοντας έτσι το γύρο του κόσμου. Εκατομμύρια κόσμου, χιλιάδες πόλεις και με σύνολο 134 χώρες να λαμβάνουν μέρος στη φετινή επέτειο, θεωρείται η πιο επιτυχημένη όλων των προηγούμενων ετών.

Το 1ο διεπιστημονικό συμπόσιο για τον αυτισμό θα πραγματοποιηθεί στις 2 και 3 Απριλίου στο Ηράκλειο, με αφορμή  την Παγκόσμια Ημέρα για τον αυτισμό. Λήψη προγράμματος

Η αισιοδοξία είναι μια στάση ζωής που όχι μόνο προκαλεί θετικά συναισθήματα αλλά έχει και άμεση συσχέτιση με την καλή υγεία. Πολλές έρευνες υποστηρίζουν τα θετικά αποτελέσματα της αισιοδοξίας στην ανθρώπινη ζωή. Έρευνα που είχε διεξαχθεί στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Κεντάκι το 2001, υπέδειξε ότι η θετική στάση ζωής κατά τη νεαρή ηλικία, προάγει τη μακροζωία . Επιπλέον, το πρακτορείο Reuters μας ενημερώνει ότι οι έφηβοι που ακλουθούν μια πιο αισιόδοξη στάση ζωής όσων αφορά τον εαυτό τους και τον κόσμο, έχουν σημαντικά λιγότερες πιθανότητες να παρουσιάσουν συμπτώματα κατάθλιψης. Μια ακόμα έρευνα στο πανεπιστήμιο του Κορνέλ, μας ενημερώνει ότι η θετική στάση ζωής και η αισιοδοξία αποτελούν ισχυρό αντίδοτο για το στρες, τον πόνο και την ασθένεια καθ’ όλη τη διάρκεια της ζωής. Η εξάλειψη του στρες είναι πολύ σημαντική ,καθώς το στρες έχει συνδεθεί με την ανάπτυξη επικίνδυνων συμπεριφορών στην εφηβεία όπως υπερβολική κατανάλωση αλκοόλ και αντικοινωνική συμπεριφορά.

Η Παγκόσμια Ημέρα για το Νερό καθιερώθηκε στη συνδιάσκεψη του ΟΗΕ σχετικά με το Περιβάλλον και την Ανάπτυξη, που πραγματοποιήθηκε στο Ρίο Ντε Ζανέιρο της Βραζιλίας το 1992. Τη σχετική απόφαση πήρε η Γενική Συνέλευση του ΟΗΕ στις 22 Δεκεμβρίου του 1992, που όρισε την 22α Μαρτίου ως Παγκόσμια Ημέρα για το Νερό. Το Νερό, ο επονομαζόμενος και λευκός χρυσός, πηγή ζωής για τον άνθρωπο, βρίσκεται ανισομερώς κατανεμημένο στον πλανήτη. - Το 1/6 του πληθυσμού της γης, δηλαδή πάνω από 1 δισεκατομμύριο ψυχές, δεν έχουν πρόσβαση σε υδάτινες πηγές. - 1,1 δισεκατομμύρια άνθρωποι πίνουν νερό από μη ασφαλείς πηγές. - 2,5 δισεκατομμύρια στερούνται και των πλέον βασικών συνθηκών υγιεινής. - 400.000.000 εκατομμύρια παιδιά, σχεδόν το 1/5 των παιδιών του κόσμου, στερούνται ακόμη και την ελάχιστη ποσότητα καθαρού νερού που χρειάζονται για να ζήσουν. - 5 εκατομμύρια άνθρωποι πεθαίνουν κάθε χρόνο από ασθένειες σχετιζόμενες με μολυσμένα ύδατα, 10 φορές περισσότεροι από αυτούς που...

The coursebook or the syllabus has a comprehensive set of structural topics, and teachers may feel they have to cover everything. So lots of class time gets used up in a mostly unsuccessful attempt to get students using all these structures correctly, and there isn't much time left for anything else. The result: students are doing grammar instead of learning English. 2. It's tidy. Vocabulary is a great big disorganised muddle. Functions, can-do lists, skills and strategies are all messy. Pronunciation is tidy but very hard to teach. That leaves grammar: a limited and comforting set of (relatively) neat and to some extent teachable rules and examples. When you are speaking English the words you stress can change the underlying meaning of a sentence. Let's take a look at the following sentence:  I don't think he should get the job.   This simple sentence can have many levels of meaning based on the word you stress. Consider the meaning of the following sentences with the stressed word in bold . Read each sentence aloud and give a strong stress to the word in bold :  I don't think he should get the job. Language teachers can and should use songs as part of their classroom teaching repertoire. Songs contain authentic language, are easily obtainable, provide vocabulary, grammar and cultural aspects and are fun for the students. They can provide valuable speaking, listening and language practice in and out of the classroom. Some key reasons songs can work exceedingly well in the foreign language classroom include the following: 1. Songs almost always contain authentic, natural language. This often contrasts the contrived, stilted language found in many student texts. Of course songs can also go to the other extreme by using overly crude, foul or otherwise objectionable language. With careful screening, an extensive library of usable songs for language learning can be compiled. 2. A variety of new vocabulary can be introduced to students through songs. Τα παιδιά του τμήματος Γαλλικών επιπέδου Α2, πραγματοποίησαν χθές την παρουσίαση για τη ζωή της Edith Piaf. Οι μαθητές παρουσίασαν τις εργασίες που είχαν κάνει σχετικά με τη ζωή της μεγάλης γαλλίδας τραγουδίστριας, τραγούδησαν μερικά από τα πιό γνωστά τραγούδια της - όπως τα La vie en rose, Padam...
